Lyn Barnes

September 30, 2019

Quilpie artist Lyn will once again be co-ordinating the development of a painting on the weekend that will be auctioned on Saturday evening. Take the chance to dabble with paint and indulge your creative side! The community canvas has become a CCLD tradition and is always painted in the context of the host location with all participants depicting themselves in the landscape or at a major occasion like the Friday night cocktail party. The canvases become an artistic record of Channel Country Ladies at play and have become highly prized collector’s pieces.

Living in the arid landscape of outback Queensland Lyn has been painting and exhibiting for over twenty-five years. Her work is recognised for its vivid depiction of not only the intense blue skies and red earth of her home, but also of the people of the Channel Country. Travellers collect her pictures to remind them of their experiences in the back country and successful annual exhibitions in Brisbane have proven that urban Australians still have a great love of the outback landscape and lifestyle. The pictures Lyn produces in her studio in at Eagle Gallery in Quilpie are held in both private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.
